Dana A. Parisi is a Chicago-based artist specializing in detailed drawings, bold paintings, and delicate textiles.

----------------------

What led you to become an artist?
My mom always had fun craft projects for me and my sisters to do growing up. This really instilled an appreciation for creativity that I’ve kept with me throughout my life. I take every opportunity to learn a new medium or craft.

How would you describe your artistic style?
Well, I have pretty different styles in different mediums. My drawing style tends to be very detailed. My painting is focused on bold colors and brush strokes. Both my drawings and paintings have a sort of graphic quality to them. I also do textile artwork which is more delicate.

What do you do outside of making art?
I just completed my 200 hour yoga instructor certification at Moksha Yoga Center. I love yoga and have been teaching at Moksha and around the city. I also love to travel, and am always looking for new places to explore.

If you were a slice of pizza what kind of pizza would you be?
Oh man, it’s so hard to limit myself to one, but the one I keep coming back to is mac and cheese!

What do you think is your spirit animal?
Hmm, I think a tiger.  My mom used to read a book to me called “Leo the Late Bloomer” about a little tiger that was very slow to bloom into his tiger state. I’ve always really identified with Leo.
