The very nature of the world has changed—again.

The world has largely moved towards peace since the terrors of the Second World War. It hasn’t always been perfect, but the last few decades have been marked by cooperation, international commerce, and the free exchange of ideas. One world cooperating for the prosperity of all.

The people of Ukraine, a sovereign nation, have done nothing to deserve this. Now they must fight. They pick up arms where they can.

In Lviv, groups of baristas, janitors, and teachers fill the ranks.

All around the countryside ordinary citizens remove road signs to confuse Russian soldiers—even being a little cheeky as they do.

Grandpas scold the invading forces and kneel in front of tanks to stop them.

Individuals move land mines with their bare hands.

It is overwhelming. In fact, we are often overwhelmed these days. The Talmud teaches: “Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world's grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.”

So we must help. We are humbled by the actions of World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises while working to build resilient food systems with locally led solutions. Led by José Andrés, WCK shows love, care, and justice by doing what they know best. Within 24 hours of the invasion of Ukraine they were in the thick of it, supporting the Ukrainian community both in Ukraine and along the border in shelters and in neighboring countries—and they continue to do so.

What we know best is feeding people, and if we can help these brave volunteers feed the Ukrainian community while they need it most, then we will. When you order on dimospizza.com, you’ll see options everywhere to tack on a donation to World Central Kitchen. Any amount you donate, we’ll match. Let’s do this—let’s help.

It isn’t enough, but it’s a start.
