UPDATE: September 1, 2020
This month our partner organization is Healing to Action, a non-profit which responds to the broader and ongoing demand of survivors to address the root causes of gender-based violence, including economic inequity, racial injustice, ableism, and heteropatriarchy.
In August, together, we raised $698 for unity, justice, and development. That's 23 dollars every day of August—thanks to you, dear crustomers!
Let's do it again this month. See you on the other side of the finish line!

UPDATE: August 3, 2020
As part of our commitment to long term and sustainable efforts against systemic injustice, Dimo’s has continued to partner with new community organizations doing important work in Chicago.
We have partnered with Free Lunch Academy, which is using the arts to teach conflict resolution skills, reduce youth violence and prevent bullying in Chicago Public Schools. We have also partnered with Assata’s Daughters, which provides free community programming to deepen, escalate, and sustain the Black Liberation movement. Paint the City is covering Chicago in beautiful murals showcasing the Black Lives Matter movement, while sustaining artists.
A dedicated team member is managing our relationships with these incredible organizations, making sure that Dimo’s is actively engaged and using all our resources and capabilities to achieve our goals of unity, development, and justice.
We’ve updated our menu to reflect our new donation partnerships, and we’re still matching every donation you make. Take the journey with us!
__________
Unity. Development. Justice. Dimo’s has striven to champion these goals since our inception.
As we mourn George Floyd and Breonna Taylor—who are now part of a long and terrible legacy of police violence—and as we watch countless injustices enacted on Black Americans and allies advocating for human rights, we keep returning to these words.
Dimo’s exists for Chicago’s communities, and our team is comprised of Chicagoans, whether born or made. We have a responsibility to our Black team members and our Black customers to do all we can to combat systemic injustices, and provide a safe, equitable place to eat, work, and share time and experiences as a community.
To do that, we are looking inwards first. We are surveying our team to discover ways to improve our culture, and we will use this information to make lasting changes to our environment, both in practice and by editing and strengthening our workplace policies where needed. Our leadership team is examining our hiring practices, including where we make job postings and our internal biases. Once we have done the work of research and introspection, we will introduce bias interrupters in our hiring practice and make any other necessary changes.
When asking ourselves what we can do for our communities, providing food is at the top of the list. Dimo’s has begun a meal donation partnership with Healthy Hoods Chicago. We will donate meals to them based on their needs. We are also building partnerships with Liberation Library and Chicago Freedom School, for both meal donations and monetary donation options on our website according to their needs.
Now that we are doing more delivery than ever, we also have the opportunity to make our delivery network go both ways. So we’re calling on you, our crustomer allies: If you have non-perishable foodstuffs or dry goods (such as paper towels and hand sanitizer) that you’d like to donate, we are proud to be collecting donations on the delivery of your pizza. Just use the code GIVEBACK to get 20% off your order and to let us know you'll be donating items. Any donations you make will be delivered to the Brave Space Alliance.
We are continuing to seek out organizations which exist to further the safety, education, and art of young Black Chicagoans. We are in the process of establishing more meal and monetary donation partnerships. As part of these partnerships, we will add donation options to our online menu, so that customers can make monetary donations to partner organizations.
We don’t want to let this moment pass us by, and we don’t want to act only in this moment. We are in this for the long term, so we are seeking more ways to be continuously, actively engaged in our communities for positive change. We will fail, but we will fail towards justice.
