Let’s talk about normal.
Right now normal looks pretty different at Dimo’s than it did just a few months ago. Our booths are empty, our floors are marked with lines six feet apart, and our staff and crustomers wear masks day in and out. For a while, we didn’t even offer slices.
More changes are coming, too; over the last few weeks, we have been able to spend some of the money we received from the PPP to renovate our spaces to make them more safe. That includes installing shields in front of our cash registers, building some outdoor dining areas at our Wicker Park location, and providing masks to crustomers at the door if you’ve forgotten yours.
It’s hard to think of all this as normal when the sun is shining, the lake is gleaming, and Chicago is being its beautiful self. But we’d like to be around a long while—and we’d like the same thing for all of you—so for Dimo’s, safety is the new normal. Even when it’s summer. (Or especially when it’s summer.)
We would love to “go back to normal,” but honestly, that doesn’t seem to be going very well. This virus is a very real and current threat, and is increasingly targeting younger people, a demographic which includes many of our crustomers and staff. So for right now, and for the foreseeable future, this is our normal. The way we see it, there’s no such thing as being too safe.
Dimo’s will continue to ask guests and staff to wear masks when indoors. We will continue asking guests to socially distance themselves when indoors. We will keep reading, watching the news, and doing our best to do the right thing. And as our part of this new social contract, we’ll keep sanitizing, safekeeping, and delivering delicious pizza to your homes.
All of this to say: we love you. Be safe, be smart, and for the love of all that is tasty, wear a mask when you come to visit.
